2013 – Present
15 years ago, I began my training as an architect. Outside of my academic responsibilities, I sought experience in architectural practices as a technician and Part I & II architectural assistant. Since then, I have operated in a wide variety of sectors, from commercial to residential, energy and education.
For the past five years, I have travelled extensively and worked as a draughtsman on a remote freelance basis on a variety of projects in the UK & Italy.

In 2020, Jack Richardson Architecture took on a project for a grand rear extension of a beautiful, rural, detached property near Mobberley in Cheshire, UK. The house, standing in 1,720m2 of leafy Cheshire countryside, was in need of a facelift and modernisation, which would start with the replacement and formalisation of the existing conservatory space to the rear.
Exercising the clients Permitted Development rights, a proposal for a grand rear extension over the full width of the property was drawn up. Taking advantage of the relaxation of Permitted Development guidelines, a new single-storey extension was designed to project the full 5 allowable metres from the back wall of the property, to amplify the existing ground floor living space.
I was approached by a young couple to design a new loft conversion for their terrace property in Woodford Green, Essex.
The clients, seeking to expand the available living space of the property looked to convert and expand the existing loft storage space to create an additional 2 bedrooms and a bathroom, to add to the existing 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom at First Floor.
Working under lockdown conditions outside the UK, I suggested that if they were willing to carry out the measurement survey of the property, time could be saved in the preliminary stages, and a more competitive rate could be agreed for the drawing services. Instructions were sent to the client, and, keen to get the ball rolling on the project, they had completed the survey within a week of the original email. Working to the survey with the aid of photos, an accurate set of existing drawings could be produced, and, without any fuss, the project was underway…
Building work is set to commence in January 2021.
St. John’s Centre is the newly-constructed church hall in the grounds of the St. John the Baptist Church, Hartford. The project was the design of a new church hall to replace the dilapidated old hall, beset with damp and decay, and falling into a state of disuse.
My role in the project was to produce the complete planning and tender drawing package, along with a presentation model with which to present the design to the parish and the local community.
Building work to replace the old church hall formally started on Monday 9th November 2009, and was completed in September 2010.
In May 2014, I began work on the design of a new £1.9 million multi-storey language block at Prince Henrys High School in Evesham. The new block was designed to house the school’s English and Modern Language departments and built to replace the ageing single storey build that occupied the same footprint.
The new language block, made possible with a cash injection from the Education Finance Agency’s ‘Academies Capital Maintenance Fund’ for 2014/15, allowed the existing school classroom arrangement to be formalised. In addition to the existing single storey block, the existing mobile classrooms could be demolished, and everything comfortably accommodated within the new building.
In April 2015, I began work with PR Associates on the design of a new £1.4 million Sixth Form Centre at Hanley Castle High School in Worcestershire.
The new sixth form centre, made possible with a £1.2 million grant from the ‘Condition Improvement Fund’, part of the Government’s Education Funding Agency, accommodates the school’s sixth form facilities, which include spacious classrooms, a large common room, a fully-equipped library, independent study rooms and a state of the art IT hub.
In April 2015, I joined up with PR Associates on a £1.8 million school expansion and external remodelling project at Webheath Academy Primary School, Redditch, UK. PR Associates assisted the school in securing funding through the Education Finance Agency’s ‘Academies Capital Maintenance Fund’.
The proposed extension, serves as a new wing at the north-east end of the site consists of 5 new nursery and reception classrooms, toilets, a new staffroom to replace the existing one, as well as support spaces and covered reception area. In addition to the proposed wing, the project included the extension of the existing school hall and adjacent studio space.
In January 2016, I was approached to assist with a project to build an extension at Christopher Whitehead Language College in Worcester, UK. The project proposed a brand new 3-storey extension to the existing school premises to accommodate the growing student population, expected to average around 250 students in each year group in the coming years, and 300 in the Sixth Form.
Construction of the project, which began in 2016 took just over 18 months to complete, and officially opened in 2017.
